Hello, this is the last work I've done, wanted to learn a little bit hand painting texture and lowpoly. Everything are screenshots from the maya persp window :) Character: 705 tris. Weapons: 100 tris./ Texture: 512x512 Additional weapons: respectively lance:99, shield:84, one hand sword:94 and two hand sword: 100 tris /…
If you want to model for the industry 100% do not design it yourself. You're highlighting the wrong skillset. By using another persons design you're doing two-fold: showing that you can nail a brief/concept and translate it with fidelity to 3D, and second that you can collaborate and address notes, which is major if…
I'll probably just try it out. I've got 2010 at home but we use 2013 at work. It just threw me off because most plugins I've seen show a range or "must have at least this version." Actually looking at their forums it seems like it wont work at all with 2013 because the plugin hierarchy is different. Oh well, guess I won't…
Yeah same deal, explode once done. You can keep a version exported with the meshes closer together for better Ambient occlusion but for Normal map baking, 100% explode the mesh. Your railing looks like it needs to be a bit beefed up, looks a tad thin. Those artifacts you have are most likely caused by severely tight edges…
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. :) I'd actually thought it might just be scaled down, as well, when I first started seeing the issue. Scaling up the object scales the bounding box, but all object attributes stay at 0,0. It's interesting because I can center the pivot to the scaled up bounding box, but when I…
It's just the default round brush at 100% hardness with shape dynamics set to size->pressure and smoothing turned on. That's it. If I want a softer line I usually take the flow down to 30%, other than that it's usually set to 100. Occasionally when I'm doing loose sketches I use one of the chalk brushes (theres like 3, I…
I tried it again today, with your settings and your preset, no material filtering on every texture samples. I didnt even add the normal map so it should only bake like your example. And I still get the same result as the image above. I'm going to test it in 2010 in a few minutes but that was for 2012. I'll update this…
So this is it. The reason people will start buying SSD drives is because the other products has become expensive, not because it's better. Human nature is so fickle. EDIT: Just looked up some numbers on the cheap, and bloody hell: A 100GB SSD for around 169$ A 100GB HDD for around 100$ I bought a 1TB external HDD for under…
If its set to 80 it's 20% wrong. You need to set it to 100 to get the same effect as a real time shader, full normal replacement. You could still have smoothing errors at 100 but they'll never be completely fixed if you leave it at 80, I also would not recommend mental ray. It's not designed for normal maps. Even the max…
