First character model
Hi, haven't really done much organic stuff or any other modeling for a matter of fact in years. Just starting to get back into it, so heres my first crack at a character model. Sorry for double posting. I think I'm done with it now. I wanted to add some splash effects to the water and some more prominent sway in the foliage and just better looking water and foliage overall. Ok, here is another crack, the AOVs seem to have actually rendered this time. I added a skydome light with a HDRI map on it, the yellow and red light at the end is an emmisive, so i may try swapping that out for a proper mesh light Diffuse direct diffuse indirect emmision specular direct specular indirect -

It didnt take much; I already have one. I've worked with some previously so I had a good idea what to expect. I felt it would come in handy for a few hobbies old and new, so I snagged one along with a small vacuum-form and some mold making kits. -

@Optimus thank you! I referenced o/w a lot for it First texturing update, anisotropic hair just doesn't come out as good as blizzard's (it's not aniso here) if anyone has an insight to it please share! The stomach device thing still feels weird, I might swap it if I find something better. -

Reached another snagging point with Foggy, I haven't given him eyebrows or finished his hair but if anyone can give me pointers on making his hair & skin softer and more life-like I would love to hear. Spent so many hours moving SSS sliders and tweaking maps! -

thanks for the comments guys :D here's progress up to now, mostly just working more on the anatomy and face today, and blocking in the head gear....no scars yet, she gets to stay pretty for a little while now, T'is time a good half ounce of rough shag and a tot of brandy before bed methinks :) -

I agree, but it seems like it's actually an issue that's present in the concepts as well. I didn't know what I was looking at with the model or the concept. I'd say in this case, Experience, it'll be a good choice to sway from the concept, with regards to how the crystals look. Maybe go for something more glassy, like… -

Ok, so if YOU'RE no longer using the name 'Vig', can I start using it? jk. :P Made the swap to my real name a little while ago. I find its good to have your actual name associated with your art, considering as a professional artist you are marketing yourself as a brand. :) -

Graphite tools are an incorporation of the old Polyboost plugin tools going back to 2005 so this isn't the case at all. I'm also curious why OP wants to swap out. If cost is a factor then why choose Maya as an alternative? Also, more importantly, as @Mark Dygert says, won't the entire pipeline have to change?
