Had some questions on this same subject... Is there a difference between using actual bones or point helpers as facial joints? I was using helpers on mine but it seems that everyone else is using bones! And what's the minimum amount of bones for a full range of emotion and phonemes? Gears of war has a few, uncharted has…
What kind of secondary reflection is better for such type of material? "newton rings" or maybe "mirror"? When i apply this effect i should tweak reflection and roghness again. :( Anyway i should do something with its specularity. Forgot to remove newton rings from black areas. Waiting for your ideas.
Hi all, I know this sounds like tech art fantasy, but do you know of any games that manage to fit a single armor (let's say a chest-plate) into different body size? One of our lead artist mentioned doing this: imagine you have characters goes from young to old, and their body proportion varies between 6-head to 8-head, and…
No ears ? Anyway, yeah, just retop it first. Decide if you want maybe 5-8k tris for this, or 10-12k tris, or whatever the range you want. Give it good deform-able joints. Mixamo also has free auto rigger that you can try/test. (for less than 10k or 12k or something. I can 't remember.)
Game was meant to be a tie into the hobbit movies, but the pitch was based on Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Rings. The interesting part is that the graphics seem way ahead of their time (game was for xbox 360) not to mention the cinematic quality. And did I mention it cost the studio 1 million $ to make it?…

I am sure this is very basic but I looked through the Material Compendium and although it is helpful in definning what the nodes do it is not very helpful in describing there common use applications. What I want is a ring of light to travel up a cylindrical mesh and then disappear. like a teleporter emitting a ring of…

You'll need to use the Channel Editor to show/unlock any attributes that don't show up in that list. It's one of the items in the menus at the top of the Channel Box/Layer Editor sidebar. As for rotation, that's actually a "tool" setting - double-click the Rotate tool on the left (or bring up the Tool Settings window some…
You had basically one pixel or less on UV/texture on the portions that mattered - the inner rings, so there was not enough information for a good bake. I suggest keeping all inner rings on a separate smoothing group, and on separate UV shells, you could arrange them as a long horizontal strip. This way there'll be enough…
