meh, its not that expensive nowadays, just by the latest epic/unreal game (the latest unreal tournament, gears of war) and it normally comes wiht the editior/engine... in auz it cost me $80 for a brand spanking new unreal tournament, so by now it should've lowered in price (doubly so for anyone out of oz). edit: Quags got…
I'd strongly recommend starting on a smaller scale - a single building and possibly a bit of ground around it - before moving on to an entire town. A good, simple scene will serve you much better than a complex but mediocre one. Keep in mind that for most artists, the final 20% of the work will take 80% of the time, but is…
Hi fellas, i have to dig out this old topics as iam doing some tests with flow maps in Marmoset TB and Vray. What yet confuses me that some engines seem to demand red/green maps only https://api.unrealengine.com/udk/Three/AnisotropicLighting.html https://80.lv/articles/will-koehler-unreal-engine4-breakdown-scene/
I just wanted to second Clip Studio Paint and Paint Tool Sai, both are great programs. CSP is basically the industry leader for line art, with something like 70-80% of all manga done using it these days. SAI is basically the 2D equivalent to Silo, extremely simple to use and yet still powerful enough for most tasks.
This is the best article I've found explaining texel density https://80.lv/articles/textel-density-tutorial/ When working in Maya there is a tool that estimates your texel density. Selec your UVs, set px/cm, hit scale and Maya will give you as close to that texel density as it can. It's a good starting point for your UV…

sorry, when I was in MA I knew some conservative guys that were driven crazy about living in "Taxachusetts". luckily I'm not a corporation so my taxes are pretty low. Most American's fall in the 15% range after factoring in exemptions. All in all, I take home about 80% of may paycheck - no big deal.
Thanks, alvordr! Honestly I am about 80% self-taught, as far as 3d stuff is concerned. My classes were great for introducing me to the tools, and really good for working on projects with groups of people (which is where I learned the most), but the majority of actual practical knowledge I've gained is stuff that I've…
