You're right, I love that idea. It's always cool to see what their 3D translation turns out to be. It's okay I'm new to this field too. I graduated in 2014 and I'm still trying to find that first full time job.
Some of the art I see get posted to WAYWO makes me wonder how sober some users are. Penis Tank comes to mind, though I think that was 2013 or 2014. haven't seen much crazy stuff this year.
The answer is - Yes, the default TTI can be rearanged. But, most propably this rearangement will works for 3dsMax 2014 and up and I don't know if the resulting dialog an be docked and the titlebar removed. But the spinners in the TTI can be rearanged and the size of the TTI dan be changed.

No matter what settings I seem to have, the render window will not change what it shows. This really blows because I can't see any errors I may have in my maps. I've never had this error before. I am using Max 2014.
