I liked the 2nd picture in the original with the bright green. It look like stylized, but not cartoon like many other games. In its current state some ambient occlusion or stronger lighting would be nice. Your fern/ground plants have no curvature to their leaves/branches, so they look unnatural.
Oooh, I love Tull! All of there work, literally. I really like "Strip Cartoon" by Jethro Tull, so that is one.. [ame] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JA0QALqTw40[/ame] and maybe.... "Life is a Pigsty" by Morrissey.. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iJzOSV0rJ0[/ame] Great songs...
It's working.. kind of. But now it's picking up too much detail. Since this is going to be for a cartoon. I don't know how to tell the editor to only get the bigger changes, and not the smaller details like cracks. Also, how can I make it more smooth like a pen and less blocky.
i have an 09 jetta as well. it seems like they wanted the "lowest common denominator" look to the new jetta. its absolutely as bland as a car can possibly get. i mean. if you were making a cartoon and needed a generic car, thats probably what it would look like.
Personally I love the style choices they made for the movies. I always liked the comics and the TV cartoon, but I reckon they did a really good job converting and redesigning stuff for a more gritty, real-world feel as opposed to spandex and chrome everywhere (apart from Patrick Stewart's head!).
The cartoon still has underlying anatomy beneath all the weird proportions. For instance, take a good look at your shouldes. While the shirt hides them, you can tell his arms still end up in his shoulders, whereas your arms seem to end somewhere else.
My benchmark is to model an entire city. If living expenses/looking for a job wasn't an issue, I would actually get started on it right now. Oh, and for a greater challenge, it would also be stylized. Yup, a cartoon Toronto that you can explore would be my absolute limit!
Watch some cartoons. Especially old ones (because new ones use CG vs hand drawing everything). If you can find some storyboards/production art, you'll see how much work goes in each scene. Taken from The Thief and The Cobbler
The enemy models are terrible, and are some of the worst yes. The style for those is also terrible. As for Lara, the models built fine but the facial features and cartoon pixlie looks just don't do it for me. Instead of trolling, you could have read the thread and found out as much for yourself.
get some blue or something in those shadows and drop their intensity a bit imo, its kind of disrupting the forms in the actual scene. This is pretty legit. Another thing to consider is putting some more love into the foliage. Theyre totally monochrome atm and it gives a bit of a cartoon look
