Thanks for the response. I do want the butterfly/mirroring effect in this case but not the seam. Can you clarify what a material finish filter is? I'm using the brushed aluminum material in Painter. It really seems like a left-hand/right-hand tangent space mismatch kind of like what is described for Maya…
I think if you pulled the trigger / guard back to get rid of that space between the guard and the grip, it would be more inline with what people expect to see...other than that, it looks like a cannon...good stuff.

Hello Guys! Here to share my current project just a POC of a turn based and grid based game A lot of work to come https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5eO8oNAREY
Well I am kinda happy to say that so far I have completed and followed my guide lines. I have created this shack with some custom props. I stuck to my guns and have not exceded my poly count of 5,000 polys, I am currently at 4,006. I now hope to import them successfully in UDK and start getting to grips with the program to…
http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/Game_Industry The first few links have some useful information about breaking in the industry. Keep your head up and keep on grinding away. It's pretty rare these days for a recent grad to land a job right out of the gate. Not saying it never happens, but that's certainly not the case for…
Hi everyone! I'm new in the 3D world and this is my first portfolio character. I would like to know if there are any errors or where I missed something or maybe something should be added? Just some feedback. And the big question about topology. Some artists use a lot of triangles and poles. As I understand, triangles can…
Get float2 $size gets the size of the whole document and I need to obtain the size of a decal I drop as a layer over to calculate shift and scale values from "pixel" integer inputs . In Designer I just use "get size" node that measure whatever bitmap you drop there and pass float2 to transform node with parent size . Same…
charcoal pencils or conte pencils. I didn't remember exactly which brand. You shave most the wood off to expose 2" or so of the charcoal, keep a bit of med-grit sand paper handy to keep it with a sharp point. I remember Ron grinding the point to have 2 sides. A large flat side for wide swaths of value, a smaller flat side…
Hey Polycount! It's been some time since I posted anything new here, but I'm back with a new project. This time I'm making a steampunk flightcraft designed by Andrew Kim that looks a little something like this: I've come pretty far with the highpoly and I'll try to finish that up either today or tomorrow. Here's how it…
