Hi, I am working on a stylized female character for a Post-Apocalypse setting and would love all possible feedback! My main inspiration has been the Overwatch-style of characters, and the concept is an image I found on Artstation by the very talented Hongbo Yang. There is still much to be done. The next step is to create…
I think it's good for the forum. Using Q3 characters brings back a feeling of when making characters was about having fun. I wish my high school had something like this. Better than basket weaving and fingerpainting. I'd rather see 30 amateur quality Q3 characters, than another low quality attempt at HL2 characters.…
I will absolutely look into doing clear-coat when I try to optimize this down. Thanks for the replies! I am back with an update. I spent most of yesterday refactoring my previous result, with a refocus on pushing PBR and trusting it over curating a certain look. I also dug an old reflector out of the garage and studied it,…
i think you are in a good position to look through some posted artwork that is similar to this. Look at what you might be able to add from them, such as darkening areas between the elements or grime ect, ect, to the materials. There is a recently posted blade and shield you can reference to push this further if you wanted…
Malcolm you should be good to go now. For new members we have some info in the Information sticky (http://polycount.com/discussion/63361/information-about-polycount-new-member-introductions/p1), We don't expect long-time members to know about this though, as that thread has evolved over time. Just good to know about. The…
Hello, I've already posted that in an existing thread, but haven't got any answers unfortunately, so I'll try it with a new thread. There must be somebody in this forum that can answer at least some of these questions. Very much appreciated. I'm thinking of buying a graphics tablet for texturing and sculpting and probably…
Yeah it's just a bit slow sometimes. The forum software has to scrub your images before hosting, remove metadata, bad headers, etc. so there is a conversion step in there. Generally it's best to use JPG, compresses better so it loads faster for your audience. Our overall footprint is several hundred terabytes these days…
Hi Team! Just FYI, some of us are still having problems posting images. e.g. my friend Wungun and I both managed in last year's contest okay, but this year it's a range of issues. If I try to drag-n-drop images into my thread, the pic merely opens in another tab. Or if I try to post links from most image sights, the only…
Ah, ok. I had it be an issue once or twice in the past, had to have one of the forum mods do a change for me. Mainly askin cause I was gonna start up a thread in P&P shortly, and would potentially be updating the first post some as I wanted to keep what was posted and updated all to one post.
