And Houdini. I'm sorry, but I don't think thats getting enough credit these days. Especially the value and price compared to Autodesks's monopoly of buggy and expensive releases.
I've left Maya to go Houdini for almost a year at this point. Out of curiosity is Nightshade still being developed as I still use it occasionally on Maya 2015 ?
Maya and 3ds max are industry standards. Maya is the best choice for animation. It's a good idea to be a master of both and knowt other software like zbrush, houdini, etc.
Yeah modo and C4D have pretty solid set of modeling tools. And houdini is a good replacement for Maya for rigging and animation, sidefx has good pricing options
Hello, I'm doing some R&D for finding the best way to create procedural growth in Unreal. Something like this houdini canned anim video, but during runtime; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qqUwG3NOyU Does anyone know if there is a good starting point to do this in Unreal? Obviously, I could create the animation in Houdini…
@poopipe Thanks for the reply! I Asked him in the youtube comments and he mentioned he just made the geo in Houdini and using a spherical mask in Unreal to mask it out.
A lot of exciting things have happened with software, just not the main 3d packages. Substance Designer, Substance Painter, UE4, Unity, Marmoset, Houdini, photogrammetry in general, etc.
