It really depends on what kind of polycount you are shooting for, but for the best looking results you should get some geometry around the large folds that will change the silhouette. A good example is this character in the polycount showcase, http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=74780.
hey man! that's some awesome stuff!! I have a question outta curiosity, where did her hair piece go in the beauty shot?? Did you take it out to showcase her facial features more? Anyhow, great job on the entry!
Justin's got it, but SHAME, SHAME ON YOU JUSTIN!! 'Chinatown' is a modern masterpiece, your penance is to see it as soon as you freaking can. It was on Showtime Showcase the other night, it's not hard to find. That's like never having seen 'The Godfather', fer cryin aloud. /jzero

Thank you, it means a lot. I'll probably do that after I finish another work or two to showcase some new stuff I've learned and to further increase the quality of my work, just a couple more months and it should all be set.
Use the 3d showcase area though. Start your projects there, finish them there. Post weekly or daily updates, hound people for critiques. Even if you don't agree with the critique try it out anyway. If you aren't getting critiques, keep going.
