Hello, everyone! This is my first shot in handpainting. Would love to hear some feedback. There was no specific concept I went by, except for some basic sketches. Diffuse texture is 1024. Initially I planned to reduce it to 512 after finishing, but I decided not to, just so you can see and point out my mistakes easier.…
Hey guys :) Here's my last personal project, an electric weapon ! I've been working on the concept for a while and decided to move into the modelling, using 3DsMax and Zbrush a lot (4R8 is amazing). I'd like to get a Heroes of the Storm style or maybe just a handpainted texture. I'll move into the sculpting phase pretty…
Damn she is looking great. The translation of Leagues handpainted to PBS is really nice. I think you could have pushed your presentation a bit further though, as the lighting is the weakest point in my opinion. As the model is so awesome I think some more time on the presentation would be golden.
I've completed the handpainting after many weeks. I attempted to capture the feeling of various materials and objects with low poly and hand painting the textures. Overall I used two 2048k maps for chair floor and objects and one 512k map for the background. I'll post more W.I.P soon model
@Cglewis hey thanks for the reply. But laying out color is not really what I have trouble with. I know how to use just photo textures, or just handpainted textures, but I dont know how to make the darksiders style textures. Does anyone know what the layer order would be?
I love me some handpainted art! Does that base platform texture tile (it looks like it does), it might help to tile it some since in both resolution versions its the most noticeably blurry. Also the trip around the base could benefit from matching the base colors more.
as for your handpainted character,. I'm not sure what it is. I like the colors you chose. It looks like there's a line going thru he brown cylinder though. Methinks that wasn't intentional, but i've been wrong before. I really like its face. is it supposed to be a mechanical chair/gun creature?
you have feet right? do you have a digital camera or know anyone who does? i know blizzard like to handpaint their game stuff but they must have a digital camera lying around somewhere. put the camera on the floor in timer mode. you know what to do from there...
Hey Disting here is a handpainting tutorial for faces that I often refer to. It helped make my skin textures a lot more lifelike http://www.pig-brain.com/tut01/tut01_01.htm I hope it helps when you pick Link back up. resculpting will help too. Keep up the good work!
basically i can only repeat whats been said... your hi poly looks great but some of the texture looks too handpainted and hides some of the nice detail you have in the hi poly. thats mainly the hole in the head with its blurry outline and the blood which fails to deliver, as well as the saliva.
