well when it comes to scales, usually a good photo overlay will do the trick. But if you insist on painting scales, they are usually circles, not square. The scales you have now remind me of the lizard in the old spider man cartoon. -

hehe this was suggested in the Skin City request boards about a month and a half ago. Still a decent idea. The next question would be do you want it cartooned like the show, or modeled in a realistic sence like the gto pic? -
Ultra low poly mesh
Hi, does anyone here make ultra low poly meshes? I am talking sub 100 polys. I have been making some cartoon characters and trying to be efficient with polys but my skills are limited. Just wondering if anyone out there trying the same? -

Don't be turned off by the cartoon aspect, it's intentionally like that so it's simpler to understand and replicate. But it teaches you construction of the form and proportions. I'd say it's better to start with that first and then move on to Scott's "How to Draw". Because Scott's book is harder/more technical. -

This. OMG, Zbrush for a cartoon character? i'd say take the exit door, and forget about this industry, because with that mindset of yours, you only will get a kick in the ass, really. BTW, how old are you? I'm really impressed, perplexed by this post. It's incredible. -

Not decided yet.. the final possible purpose of this character is to use it in a 3d game in real time (and for that it would be optimized), so i would be going for a more illustration/cartoon look. On the other hand it might as well work with a more realistic appearance. Any suggestions ? -

Looks like a man in panda suit. All the joints are wrong, the proportions are wrong. Go look at lots of pictures of cartoon pandas and restart. It would also be worth looking at a tutorial on making a good basemesh that will work in Zbrush, as that one youve got wont. -

Very perceptive :) Yep, my current thinking is that the player gets to spend an introductory span of time up in space initially. You are pretty on the mark regarding the tone too - though humour won't be amiss, its not from a zany cartoon style or some such. -

I cant remember from the top of my head - because i have barely had time to use the exporter, but IF i remember correctly the Optimized one is for more stylized/cartoon like stuff. I will double check and get back to you! -
