royksopp, kings of convenience...sure there is good music coming out of norway. :-) after reading per's post, i'm surprised it breeds any. all the norweigans i know or have worked with are warm, intelligent, outgoing, and crass (and i mean that affectionately).. must be something in the geography :-) -

I thought that, rather than start a new piece, this one had potential, and I could just try and make it better. I cleaned it up quite a bit, and made a couple of changes to make it read better. I'm dreading doing the hair properly... :P -

thanks, lets say I enjoy a challenge ;) I'm working on an efficient method of "rationalizing" any poly shapes/edge outlines etc so it doesn't break other tools (First rule of Tools, Artists break everything! ;) ).... you could just union them all to get a "bounding" poly but then you can't have holes. I agree with Brad and Rice, the UV's need some work and the WOW style involves bigger shapes and more lighting information. I do like the texture wip and the organic flow of the tree, though I think you should break up the roots a bit. -

Upon further reading I found this kind of seam issue is inherent to modular based construction when lightmaps are involved. Is there any work arounds besides resorting to adding some sort of natural break into the edge of the texture or add an additional mesh over the seam to obscure it? -

so figured out a resonable workflow for making boots/shoes etc. could still optimise the final boot baking mesh further, but works ok obviously the panels just get removed for the final bake, as they are all non destructive. slightly high poly, but ok for modern hardware I think will then do a substance pass , adding… -
