Screen space reflections can only reflect what's actually rendered to the screen. They know nothing about anything outside of the camera frustum, facing away from the camera or hidden behind other objects. It's just a limitation of the technique.

speaking of smudgeguards I need to get a couple screen protectors too my wacom pen hit a spot on the screen and now I got a nice little scratch in the middle due to my pen being a little to sharp on one edge.. f'n wacom.
