I'm in! I agree with what Joshua and oobersli said about the budget for enviro artists. If there is no limit on the overall scene then someone could have a huge amount of 1000 poly objects if they wanted.
Here's another update, about a week into the enviro. Now all I have left to do is polish up the textures, finish a couple more and then make some clutter to bring it to life.
Hey Dan! Enviro blockout looks promising, excited for you to pick that back up again. Vehicle is looking super nice too, I'd also be interested in seeing some flats!
This piece looks spot on, if this was your work 3 years ago you must be even more amazing today. I'm pretty curious about how you did the enviroment too
If you are interested in modular enviroment art, check out Warren Marshall's YouTube channel. He recently added a modular Mesh set video https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5dRrOarPI6ufGWsabG28FQ/videos.
I am envious of your skills, this is very very nice :) Edit; i'd really like a breakdown as to how you've achieved a look like this on the gun, if i'm not asking too much
Trying to pin down a pose, I kinda like this one but my rigging and posing = microwaved shit Gotta try and get an enviro done as well as finish up the texturing, it will be close...
I always wondered why there's no animation subforum here on polycount... since every game needs animations... And between all the enviroment and character the animation threads always get lost... sadly.
Damian, love the page! A definite inspiration to aspiring enviro artists (like myself). Do you think having wireframes on your lowpoly work (props, building, etc) would be useful?
i dont know what the film will be like, but I can recomend the art book....its pretty good, fair mix of enviro and character stuffs too look at....very pretty
