Update on this scene. I got busy with some freelance stuff for a while, but I finally got a chance to work on this again. I made some huge changes to the layout of the scene and added lots of stuff. There is still more to do such as replacing the lights down at the bottom with new models. I am still tweaking the lighting…
so I cleaned up the geometry on the top tiers. I feel silly for how I overlooked that mess. I asked our designer and there is going to be some in-game cinematic where the camera zooms into the ship and goes to a window on the top tier so yeah it'll be seen up close at times. But not super close. So I will keep the windows…
Sounds good, but what about syntax highlighting? Finally! Most people are still using yee-old MJ Polytools for this, and I made a version myself a few months back sense didn't want to have to use a plugin for it. Will be interesting to see how well this compares to existing scripts. So will we finally be able to do insets…
Here's a quick screencap from painter of the wall so far. I experimented with painting some insets like in the reference, and it looked a bit off. It looks pretty basic right now, but I think I'll try my hand at it again and see where that gets me on this. I also have some bakes here for the other sections of the wall. I…
Just tried the full precision uvs but dosen't seem to be the problem, I might be missing one step or something. I decide to go with 2 uv's because this way I am able to do all the decal materials without affecting the borders(insets). Also with mesh decals the decal normal override the the tilling normals, so on a mesh…
brightside, don't just copy me exactly! eq, the screws on the sights are actually supposed to be inset. looks like i forgot to add a bevel around them to show that, whoops. places i need to add geo: side rear pin things attached to the plastic rear sling loop looks horrid in fpv side and top rails top rear rail pin…
Hmm, this was a concern I had. Kinda struggling with the best way to approach those. :S I'm thinking possibly make one slatish rock and then use Mesh Inset in ZBrush to extrude some nice angular rocks from a surface. I can then use the rock I used to create the extrusions as a filler prop for the rest of the scene. Going…
Thanx! In fact i am a bit surprised why people ignores MCG, it has a huge potential and could offer fully procedural pipeline already. Also can say that Autodesk made unexpectedly good tool development system! It is convenient and easy to use. The huge disadvantage is that it still doesn't not support modifiers for…
@tommy39 @Rage288 Thanks guys, much appreciated! @kymo_thys Thanks for the feedback man! What do you mean I swapped the driver with the MG gunner? Sorry if I'm derping :P My old lecturer mentioned the muzzle brake too, think I'll redo it but it seams like quite a complicated model to make from just one model; any tips?…
I continued my progress on the low. On the cockpit, for the non-planar, I added a few edge loops, when I would triangulate without these edge loops it would look too sharp. For the fifth image I added the inset and removed some non-silhouette altering edge loops. Will add some more chamfers to the back and a few more minor…
