Jackwhat--Really nice paintings! Just a few critiques (and please take them in the nicest way possible to help you out, cause I really do love these paintings and want to see more that are even better). -LOVE her left eye, it looks beautiful, but the right one has too heavy a lower eyeline. -The lower right right portion…
what are you using for a mix with your oil? I found 1/3 turp, 1/3 Damar Varnish, and 1/3 Japan (dryer) works well. Sometimes I'll throw in some Liquin (a god's gift to oil painters, but banned by purists). Oil is a translucent medium. It takes many layers to build something up. An under painting is better served using a…
Thanks for the feedback. Looking back on the uv layout it seems pointless to give the top portion of the wing separate uv space considering how big it would look on screen. I'll be adding some more details to it and probably fix the uvs since it would allow me sharper decals on the wing. The problem with that is I don't…
I thought about it, but I'm not sure of a couple of things. A) The details might be painted too softly that crazybumb/nvidia might pick out muddy details and B) I figured I could make a brush in mudbox that could give me what I was looking for and I figured that if I could create it on the mesh it would be 100x better than…
tremulant, was that guy's face based on The Rock perchance? Normals only/AO+Normals (AO bakes are a little nasty in place but that should be fixed with diffuse painting and specs. I'm doing all my baking in xNormal which is great, its so much faster and more reliable. Only problem is those AO bakes which is probably my…
As I said previously, working on this ancient machine is getting on my nerves, and this lack of productivity that hunts me on summer vacations lead me to that sad option that is rush the model a bit to the end (bad option I know :( ) Finished the normal map baking today (just forgot a couple pieces). Tomorrow create a…
MUCH better- its good to see you thinking about what your volumes are now- push that envelope till it says "EXCUSE YOU!?" see what happens when you use as much reference as humanly possible when you sculpt, paint textures, etc etc- look up some skeletons, and check your rib cage as well as the weight on those legs.…
Great form on the head Mop, but who is it(You probablly captured the likeness well, I just don't know who it is) Is that just hand colour painted skin so far? I think you got the shape down so well the priliminary colour you stuck on works really well(aside from you saying its too dark)
Badass palm! Could use some detail on the shoulder cones though, either some wear to the metal on the edge of the top of it that streaks down, or some horizontal grooves or inset detail to pop those pieces more, rest of it has a lot of nice detail that that area comes off more bland.. Agree with Joey, go with the warmer…
Great stuff, guys! adamlewis - that's looking really sweet. I particularly like the gnarly toes. Here's something a bit different for me. A vehicle of my own design. I painted over a 3d model a la Hawkprey. Was really good fun. Think I'm going to try some kind of ostrich/bike machine thing next. Ta, Nick.
