Ah, so it does, thanks! Just to expand on this because I completely ignored it for so long: hold D to enter pivot mode and click a face to set the object pivot to that face first to get the axis set quickly.
Also don't forget you can move the pivot point of the selected vertices by holding d and then snapping to another vertex and scale out from there. You can even lock the pivot if you like by clickin the blue eyeball.
well, the box example is really the fundamental knowledge. to carry it to that screenshot, you'd start by plotting out the perspective of the scene with a grid. then plot the sun position according to that grid, that'll be your light vanishing point. since the sun's basically at optical infinity (really far away), your…
If you move your curve to the origin, you will see it still has transforms on it ie: its pivot is not at 0,0,0 so when the cube is the child and has zeroed out transforms that position is not where the pivot of the curve is.
3)first have the edges selected > goto rename toolbar > Change it to relative tranform in the dropdown menu> type in 0 into Y axis with the scale tool active > then it will snap to the pivot center(depends on location of pivot)
So I have hotkeys to align edges in the UVW window vertically and horizontally but for some reason it doesn't work on verts. It does work if i press the Align Horizontally to pivot and the Align Vertically to pivot but not when assigned as hotkeys... Any suggestions?

Hello, I'm a bit late to the party with this one but I going to give it a shot. My character is going to be a robot pilot. What I want to achieve for the robot is something that looks like a cross between the Iron Giant and Rodney Copperbottom set in the world of Machinarium. So he's going to look gangly and grungy. The…
http://www.funkybunnies3d.com/tools.php The FB Sub-Obj Pivot script creates a working pivot based on sub-object selection. VERY useful! Rappatools has a better implementation but you'll have to pay for the full pack. http://remusjuncu.com/rappatools/
