I wouldn't consider myself a master by any stretch of the imagination, but really its just practice, practice, and more practice. My first few attempts at rocks (the ones I don't show anyone) all looked quite terrible and formless. Rocks are probably one of the hardest environmental shapes to sculpt just because we see…
Hey Evan, Thanks for this great comment, I think you're very right. Apart from this first concept I don't really know where this is going. I'm at a level where I don't fully control what I do, so even when I reach a cool result, usually it's not what I originally setup to do. Also this is quite ambitious for my level so…
Hello :) I am loving those environments and personally I felt after playing HAlo reach campaign that this is the BEST HAlo title to date , I loved the Epic feel of the campaign and I especially loved the environments .... New Alexandria is one of my favourite levels I love all the skyscrapers look and shapes and Designs…
wasn't it agreed that the "oh yeah, well show me your portfolio!" response to critique is a dick move? I mean, seriously, what's wrong with anything on this list that's getting your hackles up? If you guys are getting all upset about a woman saying "no porn elves" perhaps you haven't browsed over student work in a while.…
Alright so i agree with what you guys said about the whole underwater look so i added more snow to the tops of the rocky parts and in some places i removes the rocks completely. I also smoothed down most of the terrain in the part where there is snow to make it look more natural, as if the snow is slowly piling up. I also…
Alright cranked this guy out Gonna use it as a base for the ground cover/clutter, not completely sure about the rocks, or at least the scale of the rocks, feedback on this and the stones would be great, one more week of ground tilables, then it's on to modeling rocks!
And now! Second attempt at shading using PBL (physically based lighting) I really enjoy it so far. I made an asteroid. But really, it's a rock. Fancy lighted rock. But a rock.
1) Reading Forums for any game will give you the impression the software is full of bugs even game of the year software. Atari's message boards are nortious for having retarded customers why do not have the proper hardware to play games that require Hardware T&L. They buy an E-Machine then buy a game and expect it to work…
You should try to find more reference of this location, so you can see it from different angles, closeups, without the motion blur, etc. One image isn't going to give you enough information, especially when you're just starting out. A lot of reference is key! Landscape in games typically mixes two main techniques...…
my biggest gripe is that all the metal looks like rocks. the dragons skin seems to look like rocks. the trees look like rocks ffs. texture wise i mean. obviously the geometry is tree shaped (in the case of trees).
