You don't think I'd make a gladiator game without the audience launching random weapons and items into the arena sometimes, right? (Especially now that item picking up & dropping is in the game) So I wrote a little "launcher" script! Making great progress the last few days
of course. polysculpt or polymagus script, not sure which one had it in there. very fast as long as you're using max5 and beyond. since my max version doesn't have built-in (and useful) uv-relax, i use this prior to unwrapping and morph the mesh back into the original shape afterwards.
to tell you guys the truth, i actually get much better results using an oldschool light dome setup.. there are several scripts for this.. choose the one you like the best, but for some reason i find the light dome results seem to catch the details better than the skylight.
Ah okay, thanks. Are there any scripts available anywhere that add a manual alignment feature again? Update: I tried what you suggested, and it ended up looking worse. I mean, have an auto feature, sure, but I can't see the point in removing manual control?
The main problem of this tool for me is that it is a script. So Its not really intergrated into a modifier or something and work a bit "off". I want to test it more before judging but that the first thing I realized and annoyed me a bit. Besides that, it was superfast and cool so far A lot of toys to play with
have you maybe installed some script/plugin recently? i remember a similar issue with polyboost and .dds files. the trick was to re-enable the plugin in customize->plugin manager* *hopefully the right location. i have altered the menu structure on my install somewhat, so not sure on this.
