Powerballs (http://www.powerballs.com/) are awesome. I was starting to develop numbness until I got one, now I very rarely have pain even from long work sessions. Every time I do get pain, I just (gently) use the powerball a couple times over a day or two and it goes away again. Don't waste money on expensive metal ones,… -
2 sided alpha planes?
I was a bit confused about whether you can use single sided aplha planes with shadow volumes. Obviously its a pain in the arse to have for example a hair or grass plane with 2 sides. besided doubling the poly count, its just a pain. BUT for stencil shadows your meshes cannot have open edges. Yes, the same kind of plane approach exists in Mari. Mari doesn't care about faces spanning across udims. As long as the geo is udim-friendly (meaning only 10 tiles horizontally, not going into -1 space). If you have overlaying uvs projecting onto one area will accurately repeat it. As for painter, it doesn't support faces… -
