I often (since I saw it in UDK) blend textures in the shader using vertex paint, and avoiding too much repeating texture as well. Find that it works better then decals and gives more freedom and easier to adjust.
Definitely agree with Mark. More polys and make that puppy decimated. Well, a little run down :P Also differentiate the window blinds cause they texture is every single one. This is where the decals might come in handy.
yes you can !! and you can do that in a variety of ways.. take a look here there is a tutorial or two on how to create decals/terrain and creating textures for your terrain i believe.. http://www.chrisalbeluhn.com/3D_Tutorials.html Cheers...
Thanks guys really appreciate the feedback, brought it into UDK creating shader networks with lerp nodes to mask off certain sections and adding decals from seperate textures... this stuff is finally starting to make sense... lol
looking nice like the lighting needs: some signage, leaks n drip decals, moar plants (maybe a new section with a planter that stickout into the pathway some, with a nice trailing plant that could creep into the rest of the scene
The back window texture grime is noticeably mirrored and I presume, although you cant really see it at those angles, the front will be the same. It may be worth using a small map decal at those areas to break the uniformity
great looking modal, but the texture needs some work, maybe a few decals, scratches etc and I agree with ae. get rid of the tiger strips it really feels like it shouldn't be there. But its coming along nicely
Yeah, the CS GO decal is a bit... forced? But the kinves themselves are very good, specially the stattrak counter, seems a nice alternative to having the number scratched on your knife. I'd take the fourth because of it's unique shape.
Very cool design. It could use some smaller high detail elements like guns and lights. And maybe a 3rd color like orange for decals, logos? Also have you thought about a dDo pass?
Some more progress, got started with the holograms today. Mostly just fiddling around with the texture, so I haven't really started on the shader yet. Also quickly tested placing the text on the platform wall with a decal.
