Okay, the only thing anybody still remembers is to create a new layer, handpaint it and have that button selected. I have tried it myself and could not get it to work :) But maybe someone else can. I also have not used ddo legacy in ages.
Excellent!!!! I very much like the hand painted style you have here! A road I would like to go down my self someday. No crits, lets see more! any tuts you could point to for a newb handpainter?
Hi InkRose, i would try to check better the topology head/face, take a look at these images :) i am sure that for a character like that you will have less polys but i don't have so much experience with lowpoly handpainted character!
If you do a totally set-up scene like that and handpainted, then try painting the round ground plates at the spots where the pillars and the other plates intersect. Like dirt, AO and grass, right now they have no connection at all and thats the main problem
Done with the hp in blender, going in zbrush for final details, than lowpoly and bake. @Auldbenkenobi Great Hpoly man! :D @DeviatePanda: Great job on the handpainted texture, but just one thing, isnt the tape that is holding the tank on the "stock" too loose?
They paint shading into the texture, same as every handpainted game more or less. You can't rely exclusively on realtime lighting and expect to get good results unless you have an extremely high poly model or you are using normal maps.
Thanks) Well, in my case - handpainted textures about 90% and 10% - render (usulay just for outlines). Also I draw extra outlines (or just black lines I should say) on almost every corner. But no rules, just feelings =)
Oh no, I didn't mean that he should stop using automated tools altogether - I'm saying he should handpaint stuff until he knows what's actually a good texture and what's not, then using automated tools is a good idea.
i am not quite sure where your dilemma is, it's not like highpoly models give you any texture, it gives you some info for the texturing but you will still probably either handpaint or photosource your textures over the baked lowpoly
I love this handpainted look you are going for here. The predatr is insane right now. When it comes to your latest faces I feel they are lacking in Hue variation, but other than that stellar progress. If I may ask, which software are you texturing in?
