JDinges has a great idea you need to figure out what you need to live on, in any given area and make that your min. While I have absolutely no clue when it comes to slow downs vs. # of polygons, I can tell you that the difference between 1gb and 4gb of memory on that machine will be night and day performance boost on most applications. I can't believe you have a dual xeon 3.0ghz with only a gig of RAM, how the hell did that happen? <3… -

It depends on the project and resolution. The longest I've had for 15k poly characters is 3-4 weeks. I am working on 3-4k polys and 1024 textures at the moment and spend 2 weeks on them. 4-5 days for high poly, 1-2 days for low poly and uvs, 4 days for texturing and setting up in-game shaders. Usually a TD rigs the stuff.… -

yapasddfgg . Mental ray is old I would not really use it today. I don't know about hypershade but nowadays offline renderers are usually easier to use than years ago. V-ray is much more friendly since 3.0, Corona is almost a one-click renderer. Iray in substance is dead easy to use. Octane renderer too. You could check out… -
