I'm helping some students figure out what's missing from their portfolios, so they can focus on what to improve. I wrote down a list of stuff I look for when evaluating new hires. I'm sure I'm missing some things. What do you look for? Any help is appreciated. EDIT: latest version is on our wiki...…
I love this because I'm trying myself to nail it, creating modular buildings specifically. I seem to have trouble getting the scale correct from the beginning, which is quite annoying. Good luck with this though!
I don't know if you plan on doing any modular building in your levels, but Digital tutors recently put up a good tutorial on how to approach it. http://www.digitaltutors.com/11/training.php?pid=857
at ubisoft, level artists don't make actual art content they are responsible for managing the asset lists they need and building the world, composing scenes and set dressing etc. more of the big picture kinda things, most assets are sent to outsourcing in china. there are a few modelers on staff but they mainly create…
I'd also like to point out that CG as a whole (at least in standards of realism) has been primarily used in film to create scenes that would otherwise be either too time-consuming, costly, or impossible to create as a set in real-life. You also have to factor in what art in real-time games actually means. Sure, it's…
Hi guys, Sorry it's been a while, I've been really busy lately trying to organise workshops for Adobe Products as I'm an Adobe Rep for my uni. Last week I did actually finish a better grey box for the courtyard for which I am going to start in - as previously advised I am going to de-scope my project massively and try to…
I'm doing a scene similar to you at the moment, how did you go about building the room? Are the walls all one mesh or did you make it modular? Could you show your method please? =]
Vote 1. This awesome. And have many different objects - interesting for modelling and texturing. But without character. It may be problem for noob as me :) Vote 2. Many buildings, but look great and may be modular. Sorry for my english )
I just purchased Modular Building Workflow for $7.50... Wish prices like this would be a norm :) *** Couldn't resist and also picked up Hand Painted Weapon Texturing Course. :poly124: I'm set! Thx a ton!
I'm going to be making tutorials for UDN on how I build stuff from start to finish and make things modular. I don't anticipate doing more community stuff though. Certainly not in the short term. r.
