Hi, I have this issue with smoothing out my mesh in 3dsmax after exporting from Zbrush. I retopo my mesh in Zbrush, import it into max and magically smoothing groups stop working. The only way to smooth out the mesh is to apply MeshSmooth. Is it just me? Can anyone confirm or provide a fix?
For a quick fix, try Relax in the deformation tab...it respects masking and you can keep your topology. But zremeshing and reprojecting would work just as well.
It may help to pretend you're an art lead viewing your portfolio. From this perspective, you can ask yourself, "What could this person contribute to the project my team and I are working on, how does this person's work compare to the rest of the applicants, and is it cost effective / within our budget to hire this person?"…
Probably going to need to lock the normals (not sure if that's even possible) or use an object/world space normal map. I don't see that workflow working very well in either case.

I believe Maya now defaults to Python3 while Zen Tools use Python2, so you may be able to get the script to work by simply changing the Python version in Mayas preferences.
