Hey Kgizzi, The iris of the eyes was rendered in BPR. The iris is polypainted by hand with toy plastic mat cap. Yes, I used Marvelous Designer to create a base for all the clothing
Update time! I added details , broke the symmetry , made his "pants" and played around with polypaint. Also, I made a test render in keyshot and pretty happy with the result :)
Head polypaint. First pass. I like to concentrate on the portraits of my characters first. Neck area anatomy, eyelashes and eyebrows, hairstyle development... Still many things are not done.
For future reference to anyone reading this that doesn't know, simply apply a texture to the model first using the Texture Map Subpalette (a blank 'new from polypaint' would even do)
Mari is good, is just not easy to use and has a very complex workflow for some users. I rather use 3D-coat or just zbrush polypaint for game related assets.
I paint mostly in PS, but that's only because I'm a lazy fuck and haven't tried to learn any 3D painting tool, although I had fun with Z's polypainting
Sorry to resurrect (this is for google searchers like me!), but I just ran into this issue as well. I had to fill the object with polypaint first. After I did that, the Zapplink worked just fine.
Further updates on the progress of my sculpt. I've started to texture by just polypainting rather than projecting images onto my sculpt. let me know what you think. Thanks
Trying to find good reference for the leather wrinkles. Not sure how I'm doing so far? Also trying out a color scheme with polypaint, not final by any means. Suggestions are welcome as always :)
Very nice improvement! The lower body looks much better now, I love what you did with the armor plates :) Good luck with polypainting and keep updating your progress! :D
