Just bake them individually and reassemble the maps with a script in photoshop (funky bunny's script will do the grunt work for you in a matter of seconds and create a wonderfull psd with all the different map types and layer masks). It might be less time consuming in the end and you'll have better control over your bakes… -

Awesome work so far guys. Im getting ready to release my modular map builder script, and will be testing it with this scene. Here it is, very basic so far. The only custom room is the bath hall, I plan to add several more custom rooms, and custom halls for the script to generate, as well as more cubetype variations. -

I use 3dsmax because I like my tools already written for me and in the box, working. F*%^ the scripting language... max is sublimly good. I mean, tried just selecting faces in maya lately... oh wait, I can write a script for... never mind, I will just use max instead. -

Note: I didnt get a chance to try the script from script spot... But everything else I tried (attaching to box, xforms etc.) like I said... maybe I didnt do it right ?! (I'm pretty sure I did, but I was in a slight panic)... But the way mentioned worked.... so maybe it was a panic oversight...??? -

Yea I would stick to the Hair/Fur modifier for grass, thatched roof and of course hair and fur. You could also try painting instanced geometry with scripts like Niel Blevins (SoulBurn) object painter script for a lower poly approach. And your signature is really distracting. Big wall of white text... gah is this 4Chan? -

Agreed, Max UV toolset is really backward still. I use Headus. The one area Blender is still lacking imo are scripts. There is so much Max script goodness out there and I must be using something like 20-30 on a daily basis. I haven't touched Blender in a while but I don't think there's anything like Scriptspot for Blender… -

I've found ProBoolean, as annoying as it can be, works the best for me. There's a script called Vertex Killer (http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/vertex-killer) that'll remove all selected vertices with only 2 connected lines.... exactly like the ones ProBoolean loves creating for no reason. Okay that's very helpful, thank you Mr. Duck. Can you recommend any scripts or tutorials on this? For now, I will be learning it without scripts though as I don't like not knowing first how to do it myself. Epic does recommend using the 1 turbo smooth method so I will use that too as it's so easy and comes out fine in UE4. -

Thanks earthquake for your info, but in the final the renderer will always render in maya mode 3 smooth preview.. so the map will show the seems again :/ I just tried not to use the hard uv borders script and use soft edges instead.. that seems to help on the matter.. but I fear to use the benefits of the hard uv border…
