For anyone who has had the FBX bug- Are you all using a 2016 version of max/maya? Can you try out putting with FBX set to 2015 format in the output options?
I dont know what warp texture does, but you can map a texture to repeatUV, offset, noise, etc, on the 2D Texture Placement node. Can be previewed in the viewport with Maya 2016.

When the second map is curved in photoshop, it actually does give off a kind of specular look but it doesnt work well, and would a game released in 2016-17 use old school speculars?

2016 at the earliest. Probably be Microsoft with Xbox 720 and it'll be glitchy as heck. MAYBE by then the economy might start turning around and a few people will be able to afford the $700 price tag. Thfffpt :P
I can't seem to get Shader FX to use vertex alpha. Is this broken in Max 2016? Vertex alpha is working when I use Object Properties to preview it, but not if I wire it into a shader. Am I just missing something basic?
