One could argue that this design was the basis for Bronze Age swords, being one of the first weapons of its kind, back in the 18th century BCE. I did this project for fun during a break to try to understand a bit more about weapon design. And what better to learn from than a prehistoric sword? Source https://skfb.ly/PRKV…
Isn't his sword on the wrong side? Assuming he reaches across with his right arm to pull it out, then he'd be wielding it with his armored arm, which wouldn't make much sense. He'd want the unencumbered arm holding the sword with his armored side towards the opponent. I think? Not a fan of the beard texture on that dwarf.…
The game looks amazing. I hope Winston Churchill is in there as a soldier. "The sole British cavalry regiment, the 21st Lancers, was armed with lance, sword and carbine. The officers also carried pistols. Winston Churchill bought a Mauser pistol before leaving Britain for the Sudan. In the charge Churchill chose to use his…
Great work! Just so awesome :) I keep wanting his shoulder to be a bit wider. Might just be me. And now that I see the swords on his back, I'd suggest making one maybe 10-20% heftier/larger than the other. Kind of how the concept image shows the swords sticking out at different angles to improve the composition... Should…
I would make those recesses along the length of the shaft much, MUCH deeper. Those recesses are there to reduce weight, yet maintain the strength. It's sort of like a fullered sword. (Swords with a recess along the center of the blade). Other than that, it looks pretty darn close to the concept! Are you going to give this…
Hey, looking good! One thing: Be aware of your perspective on the sword. The details looked better fit to perspective in the step before your final render. The triangular shapes on the sword at the light spot seem like one sees them from the top, when in reality you are looking at them at a good angle. The top side facing…
I'm not a fan of fantasy proportions, but I think you achieved what you wanted to. But even if you were going for a typical fantasy sword, I would still suggest to increase the pommel size to add a little bit of realism and functionality. Here is an example of kit rae, he's doing typical fantasy sword designs:…
Thanks for the feedback. I went back and added a little geometry to the boots to round things out, and widening the little belt loop/sword thing did seem to give it a little more "weight" visually. I really like the musketeer model you've got going there. Any chance of seeing wires on that? I'd be curious to see how your…
Hey everyone, Here is a recent character I have made for an indie game. The character/sword/shield are a combined 712 polys. Two texture sheets - diffuse only - 512x512 and 256x512 - still not done painting the sword and shield. I am bad at animating so I'm going to try to add some more animations - I'm moderately happy…
So I want to really sit down and improve my highpoly modeling. But I didn't just want to do a generic gun or sword or something, so I came up with this. It's inspired by a Box cutter, the Buster Sword and a Pulse Rifle. Before I go any further, I'd like some feedback on the overall design and the rough block out, I've…
