Rt/RT Tennis ball attempt: (still w.i.p.) no shells yet used solid geo. I did this to take on the challenge. updated video, i tried i could also do this without the alpha just to not use it and make accurate strands. final below (now i can say i did it so i can speak on it, i am limited by the driver of nvidia, this…
I figured this was somewhat relevant to us, as we make art for games. It's a European Citizens Initiative, currently at 652,366 signatures at a 65% requirement for the UK parliament to recognize it. If you are in favour of these terms & are a citizen of a country in the EU, the deadline for signatures is 31/07/25. From the…
Hi Friends. I try to stitch some UV edges via maxscript but it doesn't get me the same result like when i do it via the stitch dialog. Here is an example picture which shoes the problem. One shell is scaled a bit and via bias 0.0 in the stitch dialog the shell is scaled down to the target shell and all is 100% fine. BUT…
Well Worldspace normals aren't widely supported in game engines, not in UDK or Unity, I'm not sure about CE3 personally. But in that example you show, you have the UV shells seperated but all the edges softened/in the same smoothing group. If you harden those edges each shell will look like the center shell in the…
also related to the topic would be this whitepaper from last years siggraph. http://www2.disney.co.uk/cms_res/blackrockstudio/pdf/Foliage_Rendering_in_Pure.pdf actually stuff like grass rendering should not be artists job, other than making the textures ;) the shell-fur stuff can be done in code efficiently as well,…
Hey everyone, I’m starting a WIP thread for a hero environment prop I’m building for my MA Game Art “Developing Skills” unit and my portfolio. 🔧 Project goal I’m basing this on the “Blast Furnace and Blacksmithing Equipment” concept from Dragon Age: The Veilguard (Creative Uncut link):…
Looks like the shells might have a very uniform roughness, the tarnished areas seem to reflect about as much light as the clean areas. This shell is a good example of tarnished brass. You also have a grunge tiling across the shells that noticeably repeats several times, would be better to replace that with a procedural…
Agreed, I fill my own gutters with all padding. But I don't think you put 64 pixels of space between each shell. :) Sure the shell colors are often similar enough that it doesn't really matter, but when it does it really does. I could make it clearer though. I think it's not so clear that the shell spacing is as important…
