I know we don't do this kind of thing quite yet in the video game industry, but it could be coming. It's worth checking out. http://fxguide.com/fxguidetv/fxguidetv-165-scott-metzger-on-mari-and-hdr/?fb_action_ids=4785741114494&fb_action_types=og.likes&fb_source=aggregation&fb_aggregation_id=288381481237582

omg.. My first 3d app was cinema4d which let you type in stuff like 360/8/2+180 and what not for specific rotations. I was missing that in Maya. Did not realize it uses code like additions/muliplications/division/whatever. Very handy. Thanks for pointing that out. =D
One thing to keep in mind. When I had a MBP (2011, sold now), it could not use the integrated graphics on the Windows side. As a result, I only had ~1.5-2hrs on Windows. If battery life is important make sure that you can switch between IGP and dedicated GPU in bootcamp!!
Ok, rotated it back -180 and the problem went away when dynamesh recalculated the mesh. Am I facing a large uphill battle to do a presumptuously simple rotation or should I know when I'm out of my depth (unexpectedly with this task) and stick to using the back image ref as the front.
For concept art what i normally do is take something as a measurement, in this case it would propably be that middle opening in the concept that says "loading" above it, and measure everything according to that. E.g. the sides next to that "loading" part are about 2 times wider than that, the frontal piece is 1,5 times as…
It's so bright, first i thought it is an antarctic scene. I would add more small stones to get the proportions right. 2 really good desert examples: http://www.gameartisans.org/forums/showthread.php?t=1185&highlight=vessel http://gameartisans.org/contests/uc/1/view_entries/finals_gameartisans_3d_333.html
