Without being able to run 8 bit transparency in Unreal it's pretty pointless comparing performance. Correct me if I'm wrong but I've yet to see a UE3 game using that on vegetation.
umm scale up the head it looks super small based on my fingers your character is 8 heads tall; heroic proportions. which is fine if that was what you were going for.
Added an action for converting a 16 bits/channel RG flow map into 8 bits/channel RGBA map. Negative values are stored in R/G, positive values are stored in B/A.

It might be harder to find outdated plugins for outdated versions; only the latest version of zbrush gets officially supported (as upgrades are free). If you're on 4.0, then you're about 8 versions behind.
I have never seen that happen before... but there have been 3 releases of Max since version 8, so you might want to look into upgrading if you can afford it.
