I think its unfair that some people know how to use Unreal Engine 3! They can show their stuff in like... a game and stuff! :-P I render most of my stuff. At work I use a 9x12 intuos3, and only ever pull out the mouse if we play the odd LAN game at lunch or after work. I would suggest adapting to that before you invest in a Cintiq, mainly due to the cost involved. It is unclear to me what you were doing exactly, but it sounds like you over-complicated things. You shouldn't try to trial and error your way through this.
