I always liked the design of the Fallout 3 Alien Blaster so I decided to bring it into 2016. I started a few months ago but just got back to it. I'm tweaking the lowpoly and working on the uv's at the moment.

I just did this recently, the old way still works in Max 2016. Skylight VertexPaint modifier. Radiosity Setup, Start. VertexPaint: Assign. Radiosity: Reset All.
Yeah, textools works for 3dsmax 2015 and 2016. You could also take a look at Advanced UV Normalizer from polytools, very useful for setting texel density.
