Ah. I guess there is no real shortcut to it then. I do use Dynamesh on a lot of things including hard surfaces on Zbrush, and then later decimate that. But the resulting geometry usually needs a lot of fixing :/
woah i will definitely read that thread, cant believe i missed it :| in the end, did you use dynamesh for your sculpt ? you cant navigate between subD that way right ?
Hello all, been working on this sculpt version of a painting by Karl Kopinski, amazing artist. http://cghub.com/images/view/395210/ So far ive started it off with dynamesh. Still lots of work to do. Will post soon. :)
I tried the DDO Silver Material this time (started over on a different machine and license). Gloss Dynamask completely white, Reflectance white, Metalness Dynamask white, Reflectance black. (If I turn the Metalness-Dynamask black it looks like the grey default material. )
Remesh or dynamesh could do the trick, but would redo the topology. If you could get the verts a bit closer together, the subtool weld option should weld the border verts.
This is also super important now that Boolean operations are more stable across most 3D modeling software. http://polycount.com/discussion/168610/proboolean-dynamesh-hardsurface-workflow-tutorial
Sounds like you should just use dynamesh booleans for something like that. Alternatively you can use SliceRect (but with a circle) to create a separate polygroup and delete it or extrude it inward.
Some Mass Effect fan-art, I like Jondum Bau's armor and try make it. Start learning Zbrush dynamesh , and I like it! Polypaint its just for fun. Next I think make next-gen character from this.
Wouldn't be my first choice but it's an option. Could always use dynamesh with different primatives or zmodeler, seems like box modeling is still a winner though. Just depends on what you're comfortable with.
Trying to speed up my concepting process by reusing old mesh parts. These parts were fused together with dynamesh. The metal parts are from Maya and the rock was sculpted in Zbrush. more to come..
