So I finished up this model recently and figured I would drop him for some critiques. He was from a 48 hour game jam at our school. I would say 3 solid days of work put into him, and I used a photo as a base reference for my face painting. 1956 Tri's wires (minor proportion changes but geometry is the same.)
Hi guys! I started my next environment, this time something snowy and wintery. I collected a bunch of references, determined what kind of mood and light I want to create. I do not have a blockout yet, I wanted to start with modeling something interesting. And started with chevrolet pickup 1954 Pickup Refs WIP from 3ds max
Stacking is a game Double Fine just made, it's on XBLA. A puzzle solving game involving matroyshka dolls. You find solutions by taking control of (stacking into) different dolls and using their special ability. Sound clip is from No One Lives Forever 2. A FPS parodying the 1960s spy action genre, Starring Cate Archer.
I assume you want nice straight UVs - in which case you want to unitize, stitch by rings and then unfold in one axis rather than both. That said, there are better ways to unwrap a strip now that maya has partially worked its way out of the 1990s - try using straighten on what you have there
How do you guys make sure you blockouts are correct ? I've been trying to get a camera set up like the original concept so that just have to trace the concept from perspective view but I can't seem to get it right. I am using a FoV of 90 and a 1680*1050 aspect ratio.
so gameplay is more similar to the original UT than UT2k3/2k4? sounds promising, never liked the quake-like speedups in those games and thus skipped them. still waiting how the ps3 version turns out since that will be most likely my platform of choice. pc install troubles are so 1990's
its a bit confusing as there is some nice lighting moments going on, but its kind of unclear what some of the elements are supposed to be. The tiling is a bit bad as you stated. perhaps you could break it up visually by putting more columns in. its just one big open space right now. looks a bit 1990's
Oh the U.S. networks have been stealing BBC ideas since the late 1960's Sanford & Son was just a black version of Steptoe and Son. The list is endless. I am happy that Red Dwarf never finished it's American Pilot. PBS was floating on BBC and Granada Television series until cable was ubiquitous. Scott
Diminished: I didn't even knew you were! Although obviously I win, having filled 1990 more posts with barely relevant nonsense. Justin: Where did that show up, then? The best I've ever done is get an asset of electronic equipment through QA with pong on the little lcd-screen. Pretty mundane, really.
Noel whats with the smoothing on the ear? OMG HAX Heres wires if anyone cares, i think hes a little under 1900 tris: http://www.planetquake.com/polycount/cottages/crash/earthquake/noelthing02.jpg Heres my texture so far, hopefully ill get more time to work on it tonight after im done with work.
