I recently stumbled upon some Disney blueprints of their 20K Leagues Nautilus and was going to start modeling it. After seeing this thread, I think I better stick to my day job... Incredible detail work! Cant wait to see it finished.
@beccatherose ah nice! I like it! Reminiscent of the old Disney robin hood @sudhanl I dig the looseness of this last one :) I did a space pirate character set for a small board game project. I'll post the rest in my sketchbook.
I really dig the design of this character's head, he reminds me of a combination of the badassery of American wherewolf in London combined with Disney's old big bad wolf cartoon. im looking forward to seeing how this character will pose with his odd legs.

The latest derivative is Disney pbr which the games industry has adopted wholeheartedly. Mentalray uses reflection/glossiness. glossiness being the opposite of roughness. for a detailed offline…
I liked Man of Steel a lot. I just think Warner Bros. is trying too hard to compete with Marvel/Disney because of the Avengers popularity. They should have took their time with developing a storyline instead of mashing all the heroes together so quickly.
If you're wanting to stick to the concept and go for a more pixar/disney style look, don't bother putting that many wrinkles on his leather jerkin. I think the way you had it in your first sculpt looked better, the folds were thick and stylized.
Lately I've been experimenting with virtual plein air painting. Here's an attempt at making something that looks like a classical animation background, something Disney-esque. Would love any feed back for retouching this piece or things to keep in mind moving forward!
The ground-pound one is the most interesting. I'd like to see how it looks when it's finished. Just don't forget to add some 'follow through and overlapping action". (Sorry, the only thing I remember from animation class was Disney's 12 principals)
