lots of great work in here! this stuff is so fun to see and peruse. decided it was about time I started practicing painting again, so I did a mini project of a low poly axe. I don't usually do my own designs but I wanted to practice concepting too. I wanna do more soon if I can make time! I know there's at least one…
Wow! Thanks for the nice comments :) I have to admit it isn't my first attempt on handpainting something. But I do think it is my best result so far. However when looking at it myself, I think it lacks some bigger forms and is a bit too noisy here and there. I read the handpainted texture tutorial in 'Vertex', found on…
BradMyers82 > Thanks. Concerning the references, I googled a lot of dragons images and took a close look at WoW dragons and also a lot of Allods online art which was really helpfull. DougClayton4231 > Thanks :) scapulator > love the horse and warrior !! Reminds me of Dragons Hunters movie and also the King and the Mocking…
@Aluvay It's starting to look really nice! I'll use this as reference when I'll be doing plants and stuff for my scene, the plantlife looks really nice. I think you could maybe improve some things : maybe have some grass hanging on the edge of the platform, to cover up the seam. Persoanlly I'm not a big fan of bloom…
The textures you see on the model are 2048 x 2048 I painted that high so I could lower it and it would still look good. I wasn't 100% sure how I was going to do things when I started. But my computer could handle it fine. Alpha masking makes it look uglier :/ I think the issue is I need to separate all/most of the objects…
First prop i finished in over 4years... Recent years have been very hard on me. I grow so much as a game dev and got more and more implicated with technical aspect, level and game design, and i let my fears grow stronger and just stop doing art all-together. Social media put a huge toll on me, idk why i get so obsess by…
Here is a little exercise I made for fun. I didn't want to start a big project yet so I thought a quick fantasy prop would feel great. This one is enterly hand-painted. Tricount is 2500 tris. I used a 1K map for the tower, one 512 map fortrees&rocks and a 512 map for the ground. It gives +10% texturing speed bonus plus…
Hi guys, new here and to hand-texturing. Some really inspiring work by the way, helped me through getting this model on the way. Besides the point, my education so far hasn't included any formal teaching of 3D modelling or texturing at all, I'm self-taught so far, so I need some help from the pros. I've started this…
@Pixelatedkiwi Hmm nice! Yeah I'm working on a remake of the undead starting zone in WoW. I'm trying to do a little design work too (for the more manmade objects). So I'm trying to make it in the Wow Style. The first texture I had for the branch had bigger needles, which looked more cartoony, but they looked more like…
@KiwiHead: Right now your guy is totally black which leaves no room for us to see the depth on those parts. If you start introducing some subtle gradients we'd get a better read on the forms in the black areas. Also people tend to tint shadows to blue/purple to help soften them. Very few dark objects are solid black in the…
