Take this with a grain of salt as I'm not a technical artist, but at least in 3ds max, you indeed have face normals and vertex normals. Maybe you can think of the face normals as the actual geometry (or purely in which direction a triangle (maybe polygon) is facing. That's dependent o the vertices, but not the vertex… -

I'm well aware of how other people utilize twist bones, but I disagree with them. You can limit twisting by weighting between a non-twisting bone, and twisting bone. The only reason to use multiple twist bones is if you intend to be weigthing verticies primarly using envelopes. For games, that's just wasteful. Twist/helper… -

Used to play around a bit in 3DS4 all those years back when I wasn't playing the original X-COM. Fast forward 15 yrs later, picked up an Intro to Maya class in Uni. Self taught since :) -

get a 3d one. an ecorche and/or a scanned human. ten24.com and 3dsk.com or the stores I know of. They aren't very expensive and will help a lot with your studies. Studying from real life is the probably the most important thing I don't see mentioned as often as other resources. -
Bow WIP

That's only the solution, if you think co2 is the cause of global warming. If co2 isn't the cause you still have global warming to deal with. So far the leading theory is co2. Hey T, you can find balsa wood in modelmaking shops super easily. It's the material of choice for gliders and such. Last time I used some it came in sheets of roughly 10*40 centimeters. really loving this piece... my problem is that this weapon lacks interest in it's colour palette... like... the silhouette, bakes, design etc are all there but it looks like there's just too much wood... like, just fire balling here... but would you consider maybe making those designs on the bow into something like silver?…
