most recent update: final portrait, I think?! Hi all, Trying to refine my freehand likeness sculpting skills. Referencing Georges St. Pierre for this one because he's got some pretty cool asymmetrical stuff going on. The end goal is to get the realistic likeness as close as possible, develop fine skin detail techniques,…
Monitors are in such a weird place right now, there's a bunch of "new" tech that is becoming affordable at the same time, but you wont be able to get all of the new tech in one monitor. My advised would be to get a 2560x1440 IPS or a Ultrawide IPS. 4k isn't worth it right now. But some upcoming features to look out for:…
Hey, here's an early shot of the skin in progress: Couple of things I'm concerned with: Am I going overboard with the wrinkles/folds? And the blue lines on the shirt - they look too clean. Any technique's for making it look.. hmm, whats the word... unperfect? Unclean? (That make any sense?) I think the problem is that I…
I don't know if you can automask that kind of stroke/brush type (ones that let you hold space and move them around before applying). So it'll work with some of the maskpen options, just not rec/circle/curves/lasso. You could try maskpen with the dragrect stroke and a round alpha. Or paint the area in first with a normal…
For anyone else wondering, I have one of their tablets, the h610. I find that Frienden guy kind of biased. It certainly is a good tablet for the price and performs well in Zbrush, but it's not a wacom. The major drawback for me is the lack of tilt which I find necessary for freehand illustration. The other issue is that…
The Grabdoc button is under the alpha tab, thats what you use to grab an alpha of everything that is visible onscreen in the zbrush window. Once you have your alpha you use photoshop and crazybump to simple composite the alphas or photos you want to combine. Then set your stroke style to DragRect instead of freehand when…
From the Blizzard Fan art gallery. The rest of the guys stuff is FREAKIN amazing, I can't read anyhting on his site but then again you really don't need to read to drool. His painting of Gordon Freeman was my desktop for a while...

Wow, I am really impressed. I like the hard edge modeling on the armor parts. Did you use Zbrush or something else? I'm looking forward to see the final result, as I loved the portrait you created of Morgan Freeman.
Definitely will have some influence from Jensen in Deus Ex, but suspect I'll steer away from significant modifications (like his arms), keeping the implants/mods more subtle. Of course, he's got a bit of a Gordon Freeman thing going for him...
