I am not super familar with how Painter handles dithering, so you may need to look into that more yourself. I would imagine it's simply a matter of exporting an 8 bit file though. In Photoshop, if you convert from 16 bit to 8 bit it will dither the image automatically.
DVD: $20 for 2-3 hours Game: $50 for 8-12 hours Seems like a good deal to me. Not sure why people feel ripped off when a game is 8 hours. I've found that I tend to get bored with the game after 10-14 hours.
hmmmmmmmmm....thanks for the response Xoliul. but i am indeed using max 8. you can see "max 8" on the header bar up top. no big deal....was just really wanting to try it out. seems like a good shader. thanks man. Shot at 2009-05-12
@Azurenito As far as I can tell, initial plan was to set price at $8 and give a discount for owners of ADN/QP but now they changed it. $8 is a discounted price that will be available for up to 250 purchases, later it will be pushed up. Quote from e-mail that @Fansub sent out today:

What processor do you have and what is it clocked at? A dual-core pentium processor will run much slower than an i7 with 8 logical processors. Right click my computer --> properties to see the CPU otherwise, windows+x, then press why to get the same windows open in Windows 8.
xNormal bakes 16-bit .tif files. When you import them to PS, go to Image -> Mode -> change to 8-bit. It converts the image to 8-bit with a very slight noise dithering. But I'm not sure how Quixel Suite handles 16-bit textures, or does it support it either.
I loved 8, the Magic system was fun, and it made getting those high levels spells a biotch...My thought on the story...Well I played and loved 7, and it made a whole lot of no sense...and 8 was just as fun!! Even though the story was crazy, I played it and beat it a couple of times...
@jRocket OK thanks that clears it up a bit. I was just trying to be cautious by applying like 8 tiling materials to one object with lots of different pieces. But I guess that doesnt matter since those 8 tiling materials are being used in the same scene on other objects as well.
Well the consumer preview is out, I don't see any radical changes in their videos maybe I'll look into upgrading my slate to it eventually. I still think Windows 8 is going to be the version to skip, like Vista was. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/consumer-preview
