P-51 "Bronco" for Sky Rogue, from Summer 2019. Target platforms were PC, Switch and Xbox One; so my base line was low end PCs and Switch. I took special care to mask the extra polygons with hard edges so the higher density meshes still looked good with the earlier low poly models from 2013/2014.
I used to have this issue a lot in Max 2014, not so much in 2015 and I haven't experienced it at all in 2016.
