Ah yes like mac's vs pc's. :) I've taken a similar route. I did my first serious work on lightwave actually, and I still keep some of its workflow and shortcuts in my max and maya hotkeys. From my experience Max and Maya are both very powerful programs, and both are can turn out absolutely stellar work. Max's largest…
Does anyone know how to do this the below code works to change the color management string $wsName = `colorManagementPrefs -q -renderingSpaceName`; colorManagementPrefs -e -viewTransformName "Log"; But for some reason setting it to raw does nothing? string $wsName = `colorManagementPrefs -q -renderingSpaceName`;…
Been trying to hotkey Curve Point selection mode, but I can't find the correct command. Tried echo all commands, and the documentation here. Usually I use context menus to switch between the different component modes, but clicking on a curve with polys behind or surrounding it can be a pain. If anyone knows the command or…
Hi guys! I decided to develop my sculpting skills, thats why I have picked a quest to model Mel Gibson. I have spent a while figuring out the facial anatomy, construction of the skull and face, and other stuff like that. It seems ok while doodling some random faces, but in case like that it doesnt seem to work. I started…
Hi, Suppose I made a blue blinn color material through MEL. There is anyway when I again click on the button it's assigning the random color or changing the color of the material from blue to Pink, Red kind off? window;
Hey guys! So, I've been trying to solve this problem for a couple of hours now without any success. I would really appreciate some help. So here is a short rundown: I can export FBX files from the menu, but as soon as I try to do it with MEL-script I get this error message in the FBX log file: [ERROR ] File Input/Output…
I do a lot of vertex painting in my workflow, and I’m trying to set up hotkeys for common actions. I’ve got pretty much everything set except one thing, which I can’t seem to figure out: switching between painting vertex | vertex face | face. There are three radio buttons in the Paint Vertex Colors tool settings to choose…
Well maya is making empty uvsets cause you told it to :D If you setAttr on a non-existent uvset, it just makes a new one. Setattr a MEL command that is used to make or edit various objects in maya. Not sure how maya knows but I think it also stores the history somewhere. havent looked too much into the ascii files.
Look for a .mel script called localOrient on www.highend3d.com. It allows you to change the direction of the pivot point on your object, so that all your extrusions etc. can work nicely on a non xyz aligned object. Word of warning though, it screwed up the snapping tools for me, although one of my workmates uses it without…
Under the Scale Tool options you can check "Preserve UVs" and then scale your object up in face mode (select all the faces of your object rather than selecting the object itself). This is finicky though and doesn't always work as expected. Other than this option... A custom MEL script could probably get the job done.
