www.cglearning.com is another great site for free that you can learn off without any hassle with money. I too side with Creation 22. Try this for a month and there is soo much you can learn in just one month (that is if you choose to stick with one modeling program)
Ditto what arsh said about LA. Was talking to a friend in Burbank. 111 there. Temp in Culver City at the same moment - 89. thats a 22 degree difference in as many miles. Still way too hot in my apt and my AC is a 40 year old POS.
I wouldn't worry. I have worked with people ranging from 22 to ~50 in the games industry so far in my first 2 places in the industry. I am currently 23 and working freelance from home after a year in a studio, but I have friends much older in the games industry. You're never too old! :D
i wont ignore mental ray... its far from dead.. its the only one with a modern GPU based Gi solution... the thing is you wont find any tutorial about the new stuff... if you are interested in mental ray apply for the beta... https://blog.mentalray.com/2016/02/22/mental-ray-for-maya-beta-with-nvidia/
Yes, if your 4% is set to 56 that means you're authoring the content for sRGB (gamma space), so the texture should be loaded as sRGB. If you loaded it as linear space it would not apply gamma correction, which means it would be 22% rather than 4%, which would be incorrect.
I use a 27" DELL (2560x1440) and after a few years of use I'd rather have two or three smaller 22-24 ones, or go with a very large 32 inch 4K. A 27 takes up a lot of space and isn't that much bigger than a 24 inch.
Hey Ally, It does say you are registered. It says the email was sent on 9/22. I resent it. Let me know if you still don't get it and I will send it from my personal email. Love the direction you are going btw :) Can't wait to see more!
Update 2/22: Trying to get this wrapped up and need some crits. I made some subtle tweaks to most of the textures and lighting and added a few clutter meshes. Any/all feedback is greatly appreciated! :) kosh_fotsirk: Good call, I think it looks much better.
http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/22/metro-last-light-puts-season-pass-in-the-spotlight-first-dlc-i/ "Finally, the Developer pack aims to offer some additional tools aiding in exploration." I don't know if I'm misunderstanding but does this sound like possible "modding" ?
