LoPoly Noob. I'm Converting This HiPoly to a Practical Lo, and would really, really appreciate any of the following: Advice on the architecture of the low, and how smoothing groups should best be applied. Advice on limiting the Nmap artifacts in the bake (considering all sgroups already have UV seams, and there is…
Looks interesting. Interested in finding out if its practical to re-purpose it for a prop or mech designs. Yeah you could use sculpty, etc. but this kit comes with an instructional dvd and tools. This is a character I'm working on at the moment. I'm just doing something normal for practice, since I kept making strange people. It's still a WIP so any crits on where I'm messing up will be greatly appreciated. I know the area on the lower part of the shirt are weird, the parts on his... obliques?, I'll get on that too.
Hello everyone! I would like to share my latest perosnal project. I made it to practice hard surface modeling techniques. 15k tris and 4k texture. Made in 3dsMax and Zbrush, textured in Substance Painter, renders are from Marmoset Toolbag 3. Concept made by Shantaram 05: https://www.artstation.com/taramshan Hope you like…
CRITIQUE+FEEDBACK WELCOME AND LOVED I'm Crybaby! I'll be posting all of my work here in the hopes that I will get better by opening myself to criticism and getting opinions from my peers! :) To start with, here's a study from John Asaro's Planes of the Head, since it's something I've been previously told I really need to…
Ears are really poor. Bust is anatomically incorrect, specially that part around the neck. Try practicing sculpting realistic faces and full characters rather than this. Don't avoid (or hide) parts you don't know. Grind on them instead then show them and ask for critique.
Hair update! I decided to move away from hair cards and go back to the sculpted look for this guy. I wasn't able to get the cards to show enough shape or volume so I'll definitely need to practice with them some more outside of this project.
Some daily sculpt practice in lunch breaks, still working out proportions with symmetry on at the moment, hence need to adjust here and there still. For example, think the head is too wide at the ears and top. Glasses are very messy at the moment as they are just super rough place holders~
If you want to do characters, even stylized, you need to study human anatomy. Don't wait! With regards to hand painting, check out http://www.ctrlpaint.com/ Just practice painting in 2d. Focus on form, values, and study color theory as well. Best of luck! :)
This 1000% One thing i forgot to mention in my first post is that getting good at making projects is not the same as being a good artist. It takes time, practice and a lot of failures. It's best to make these mistakes as you develop as an artist. As if you don't you'll never start.
