@Noren @iam717 thank you both for the feedback, it's helped a lot! I've made a little bit more progress on the blockout with adjustments based on your comments as well as some extra things I picked up on thanks to them :) Attaching the old version here for direct comparison: Scale blindness is something I'm still…
I was wondering if anyone knew of a good resource for looking up the different limits games use? I'd love to know tri limits, maps that acceptable and any other knowledge. I've posted on Reddit and got a cool response for DOTA 2 (their workshop). I also found a nice video on youtube that detailed how Janus was created (for…
Ahh I see the deadline has been extended. That makes me a little glad, I've been busier than I expected and with little to no sleep my energy for projects has been super low. I'll see what I can make up in the next few days to try and get the ball rolling again. I did have a trim sheet made to see what a texture would look…
Thanks a lot guys! I'm definitely going to check deeper into the thread you posted, Bek. I'd like to use this project to try out a few things I never tried, such as handplane and maybe Ddo. Thanks for the quick paintover, benc, I already trimmed a few tris down on the legs :) I'm still unsure about what to do with the…
It looks like your polygon distribution is very uneven. You've got a lot more tris in the face than you need. Also, I can't tell from the front wireframe, but it looks like her feet are pretty "blobby" and lack structure. Also, I have to ask, why is her eye taking up so much room on the texture sheet? It is the same size…
I find it helps to start with the trim sheet texture first, then model the modular pieces and UV them to that sheet. This way I can reuse already-UVd pieces to build up the asset faster. We have some tutorials here that might help you. I think the most relevant ones might be the first one by Tim Simspon, and the third one…
Small update - replacing the blockouts of the top modules with proper meshes. I have added an enclosure to the pantograph, but the lower sections are still unfinished. I think Trim sheets have clicked for me! Seems like a very fluid way to work once you wrap your head around it :) In order to preserve texel density I have…
I'm participating in the Artstation challenge for the first time. I've been working on it for the past week and would love to get some feedback! I chose to do Jeff Colin's Submission for my environment. Here is his final concept. After gathering references, I started out with blocking out the scene. I wanted to get a first…
