I've never fully understood UVW Unwrapping in 3DS Max. I went on a 3 year university course on Games Design and I was never really taught anything. Anyway, not going to get too wound up about that now if you guys can help me :) http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/593/milkfloat.jpg/ I've created an abandoned milk float and…
This is a model of Darth Vader i did, a year ago in zbrush 3.5 I want to remodel with my new Zbrush4R2, using the new features I need some feedback, any helpful comment will be greatly appreciated http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g421/lonewolfgarou/59420_436780167117_730212117_5034238_4543375_n.jpg The background, in…
Yes your board supports up to 64GB of DDR4 3200. Though you'll want to upgrade to a new motherboard either way if you plan on upgrading your CPU (5900X or 5950X would be my recommendation, both of which have come down a lot in price lately).
I have a 5950x in one system and a 10900k in another. Unless I am building code, running some sort of SIM or a shader build I do not use all the cores on either. If you mainly do normal game art on standard tools, save some money and put it towards the GPU which is where you'll see most benefit. If you use cpu based…
First of all! great concept you got there! looks really cool! best help i can give you is to tell you, try to stick to maya/max/blender whatever modeling program you are using, and block out the WHOLE model there till you nail everything perfectly like in the concept. than go to zbrush and define it. because changing…
5800/5900x and a 3070/3080 with 32gb (leaving space for 32 more) would be a fairly good place to be. The extra cores in my 5950x are of dubious real world benefit and outside of processing genuinely huge datasets I rarely go past 32gb of ram usage. I'd suggest that the money is better spent elsewhere
In Blender the alpha hashed shader mentions this paper here, "Hashed Alpha Testing". The shader itself is this (note, GPL-licensed): https://github.com/blender/blender/blob/594f47ecd2d5367ca936cf6fc6ec8168c2b360d0/source/blender/draw/engines/eevee/shaders/prepass_frag.glsl#L14 It's different than dithered alpha (aka…
2k is ambitious for a workstation. Mine was closer to 4k and doesn't come close to my desktop that was 1k less (10900k Vs 5950x) At that price I would probably aim for something gamey with a 3070. CPU is not so important and personally I'd skimp on the display /speakers etc . As you'll be plugging it into proper kit when…
CPUs: Don't use UserBenchmark.com for any meaningful comparison, they're biased AF towards intel. You only need to read the CPU summaries to see the bias in action. Intel get glowing summaries meanwhile AMD get slammed by some nonsensical comment followed up by an alternative intel recommendation. Also, while they offer an…
