Hey PolyHertz! Thanks for the reply, that stuff is gorgeous! I agree entirely about mixing 3D and pixel art. Something about it is really interesting. That's part of what I'm playing with in my latest project. Also the term "Shovelware" is great. I think your theory about consumers associating quickly made junk with pixel…
Hey hey! Over the April long week I will be driving from Vancouver, BC. to California to visit some of you polycount monkeys. However, I'm not quite sure where I should stop my trip in California. I'd stay with EQ but he lives waaaay far south. So, I'm wondering if there's a 'counter out there who's in a more central area…
Hi Eric, here's my process for creating textures for the wooden crate: First, I delete the back of the object, then I import it into Substance Painter. Once I'm done in Painter, I copy the textured faces to other surfaces. I adjust the UVWs later, here are some screenshots.…
@Fabi_G thanks for your input! I'm not planning to extending it past the bust, since i'm trying to focus on some other things, mainly stylization and later on texturing and hard surface stuff (i want to add the gun and necronomicon when i finish the vampy lady). and yeah, i'm definitely going back to see if i can adjust…
Happy to brainstorm ! Fun stuff :) Also on a side note I just wanted to say this : You really have a goldmine on your hands with Curvy and its potential. With just a little more work and standardization it could be turned into something that neither Zbrush, Mudbox, 3DCoat or MOI ever managed to provide - a truly intuitive,…
Mr. Rein of Unreal Games has posted some new changes to the UDK royalty rates that are refreshingly more favorable to the small developer. Essentially before you were required to pay royalties on any project that made more than five thousand dollars. The new limit has been raised to 50 thousand USD. Mr. Rein has a more…
Hey guys. I'm currently working in an illustration firm and have been asked to model a bottle in zBrush for a client. Basically the client is going to get it plastic-cut and sent to a glassworks and it will then be appearing in shops etc. Pretty cool assignment so I'm pretty intent on nailing it. Its a 4 sided square-ish…
The customer was a bit over the top, however anyone working in customer service should expect to hear from angry people when products that they paid for are late and there is no word on when they will arrive. (and he wasn't even rude in the initial email) So while the customer might have been a dick... the PR rep is for…
My theme for this will be a Mayan/Mesoamerican throne room. I'm loosely basing the idea off of the Piedras Negras (Originally called ~Gateway/Great Gate) site, with the idea of what a throne room there could look like in it's prime. Going for a historical fantasy thing, so historical accuracy won't be the main focus, but…
Hmm, when I imported it into UE5, the scale of the gate appears a bit too big compared to the default mannequin. So reduced the scale of the gate to about .85 of the imported size. Does this scale look alright to anyone willing to give feedback?
