My theme for this will be a Mayan/Mesoamerican throne room. I'm loosely basing the idea off of the Piedras Negras (Originally called ~Gateway/Great Gate) site, with the idea of what a throne room there could look like in it's prime. Going for a historical fantasy thing, so historical accuracy won't be the main focus, but I'm going to try to stay as true to their art and style as the central theme.
Software
Max
Photoshop
Zbrush
Unreal 4
Substance designer - will be learning this one on the fly, since I haven't had a chance to use it yet.
Here's a basic blockout in Max. Not quite sure if I'm settled on the layout quite yet, I think I need to move a few things around. I'll probably be doing a paint over next to concept out my ideas more before I start modeling the parts.
Each step is going to have gold relief blocks I can tile across the risers. I did a quick test today to see how that might look. I think I'll probably end up making 5 or 6 of these so I can have enough variation for each riser.
Oh that gold turned out sweet!!! Looking forward to this Mayan environment! I love it. I like those turquoise colored pillars in the paint over. Go Segreto!!!

Here's my inspiration sheet. I'm going to be drawing from films like apocalypto and indiana jones 4, as well as real world references.
The throne itself is going to be based off the relief and throne image on the upper left.
Waiting for further progress.
This has potential.
Good luck.
